Following on from Higby's tweet on the newly designed Killcam screen, and his comments about expanding this to include waiting/respawning...
And this is what I've ended up with as of tonight... This design brings together the following features: Revive options We need a medic! button Clicking this button sends out a request to be revived, allowing medics to see you on the mini-map, how far away you are and how long left is on your deployment timer. Ideally this would also send out a mission request. This is to help the fallen player know whether or not someone is coming to the rescue. Auto-request checkbox When you die, having this box checked automatically sends out a revive request. Closest medics list The five closest medics to your position, and how far away they are. Medics who haven't accepted a revive mission request are listed in green. Once a medic accepts the revive mission, their list seleciton turns red as does their medic indicator on the map view. Selected loadout A quick rundown of what weapons you have in your loadout, and most importantly, how much ammo you have. Should hopefully prevent that annoying scenario where you are rezzed, but have no ammo left. Deployment Auto deploy timer The auto deploy timer starts counting down as soon as you die, as is currently specced in the PS2 gameplay videos. Deployment pause button Pause the auto deployment to your selected respawn point. Giving you control of when you want to be respawned, and to give medics more time to get to you. Deployment locations As in the current builds, lists any available spawn points and how far away they are. Map view Now includes glyphs to denote where the Closest Medics are. The glyphs turn red when a medic accepts your revive request. Spawn as No changes here, this is currently part of the main Deploy screen. There's a mini prototype here with the deployment timer counting down, and a working 'We need a medic!' button. The pause button changes states, but I haven't programmed it in to affect the timer. http://www.craig-lea.co.uk/PS2/Respawn.html Last edited by SurgeonX; 2012-06-04 at 01:41 PM. Eh, I would rather have a separate screen after you accepted to respawn where you could pick your spawn point, pick your class and then customize it. It just seems a bit too cluttered that way. The medic notification is definitely an improvement and I think Higby said they were already working on that.

Ditch the auto-select and "need a medic button" dead people should be visible in their own way to medics and there's nothimg more annoying that people spamming rez me macro's while enemies are teabagging them for being overextended.
Otherwise I like it. When you said autospawning do you mean deconstruct and go straight into a respawn tube? If you did then i'm somewhat against this, a timer to prevent medic rez is fine by me but forcing someone back onto the field when not ready seems harsh (planetside had a forced back to sanctuary after 2? minutes dead, something like this would be reasonable but not live combat forced-spawning). Other than the auto-revive me request, perfect!
Though maybe from the MEDIC's point of view, a one-button way to accept a revive request? Maybe point your revive tool at a corpse far away allows you to hit a button that means you're going to revive him next? So that there's no clumsy mission menu for the medic to go through. HELL maybe even show a small window of the MEDIC who accepted your revive me mission, kind of like the old kill cam (seeing the guy moving)? This is so you can see where he is and where he is moving, and if he's actually headed your way? The window would be the size of the minimap, though where would you put this... |

As others have said, so long as you can't spam a "call for medic" button to annoy folks this looks very solid.
I'd also suggest going with the "auto-asign to closest medic" option. With multiple medics able to accept missions for the same person and perhpas the closes five or so being included. The "accept mission" mechanic can be as easy as pointing your crosshair at the medic symbol overlayed on the corpse on your view and pressing an "action" key. Very nice. It doesn't feel too cluttered to me... in the heat of battle it may be a little confusing at first, but after you see it a couple of times it'll probably be fine.
I do agree with this though: Last edited by Dagron; 2012-06-03 at 04:13 AM. |

Repeatedly spamming to be revived would definitely be annoying.
I'd see that button as a one off action.
I guess the mini map panel could fulfil this role. So once a medic has accepted your revive request, and their medic icon has changed to red, you could click on the medic icon on the mini map and then it would show you a 1str person shot of them making their way to you.
When you die the deploy timer starts counting down automatically, and it will re-deploy you to whichever spawn point you currently have selected when it reaches zero. Based on Higby's question, you could therefore use the pause button to prevent the timer ticking away and stop yourself from being respawned. |

This is great. Being able to see and request medic's on the map would be a big bonus to teamplay.
What if you could not only see the nearby medics on the map, but actually actually talk (via VoIP) to one of them too, directly requesting a revive? Could be a cert ability, perhaps. Could be quite spammy, I admit, but just a thought. |

Cheers for the feedback gents, glad youse like it
I've added this into the prototype, to see what it could be like, but at the moment only for medics who've accepted your revive request. I'll see about extending it across to all medics, so you can request a revive via VOIP. I've added in a couple more things into this prototype too. When a medic has requested your revive request, you can see their point of view in place of the map in Medic View. Either click on the red bar under Closest Medics, or click on the red Medic icon from the map. Click the Comms button to talk to them. Click the arrow button to go back to the map. I'll try adding some more stuff in when I get time. It might be a bit slow initially loading. And stuff may be off to the right if you are running at anything less that 1920... http://www.craig-lea.co.uk/PS2/Respawn.html |

Maybe the interface could only allow you to have one medic selected at a time (default to the closest one) to open a channel to, if one was busy you could switch to another to ask for a revive. I guess it'd be fine, as long as it's their POV and not a 3rd person view... would be kind of lame having dead people warning medics not to turn the corner because a MAX was right there.
