You guys do realize Mister David Georgeson who was featured in that video was one of the grandfathers of and Executive Producer of PlanetSide 1. (SmokeJumperPS)

Looks like a pretty badass technology to me although it probably would not fit in PS2. Would not hurt anything if it was.

Or are you just complaining about the video? I cant see any other way they could have done a trailer for this.

I recall, that he was once 'mr. Tribes'

once 'mr. Planetside'

once 'mr. Microtransaction'

and now he's the head of entire EQ franchise. ( 'mr. Everquest' )

I know he worked on more games prior to Tribes series, but just saying =)

All the trailer has to have is massive warfare...and some epic music in the background..and some words like 1000 players, 1 giant map,etc.

It should be quite simple actually IMO.

My favorite game trailer to date is the Mass Effect 2 launch trailer:
For PlanetSide 2 they just need to show some HUGE battles, and some epic music in the background like Dreamcast says. Showing of the different customizations etc.

I disagree, you would definitely notice mouth movement in PS2 and it would immerse you more. Not like you're going to be staring at the avatar's mouth moving all the time but you will notice it.

SOEmote is very innovative and a great idea IMO! Good stuff SOE! The voice manipulator feature is really cool too.

I think a variation of CCP's Tyrannis trailer would be pretty cool, showing a single big battle from different viewpoints with quick little voice overs of each character describing his role in this particular fight.

thats actually cool. but no good for this game. you'll never be close enough to see people faces ect. this is only tech that should be used for games that are heavy on RP or mmo's like WoW ect. for a fpsmmo it is a waste of time and resources.

could be fun on WoW though stood in the major city pulling faces or even just talking to your friends they would see your char's face moving aswell.

I know I am well aware of his gaming history.

He is a visionary in the gaming industry. That's why he is on the EQ team now and why he was on PlanetSide previously. Tribes 2 is easily on of my favorite games of all time.

Regardless I just don't see how they could have release this feature in any other video format.

^ That is how you make a trailer, in fact Rockstar get their trailers perfect every time with these mini documentary like videos.

A creepy guy with eyes brows only a woman should have showing off lame features going into a game is not the way to do it. For example, your Korean video (I think it was) is not the way to get people excited, I doubt even they liked that video lol.

Come on SOE hire people who can market this game, even on Gamebreaker they were saying how SOE always has bad trailers. I mean watching the latest "This week in MMOs" episode, they just said how bad the music was in that massive air combat video.... I agree with them. I just don't understand why SOE never has their own original music in their trailers. I don't get how you can get away with showing off a trailer with spawned static tanks... it just looked really bad lol.

Funny thing is the guy from Gamebreaker said he shouldn't be excited for this game with all the bad trailers, but he still is. This is how I feel as well and it's only because we know what Planetside is, I cannot show people these videos and have them get excited. The only videos that have shown off well with friends are the TB ones on Youtube, so thank god for them lol.

Haters are going to hate. Let them.

That article is not about planetside.

And the music was fine for a video that probably took a couple hours. That's hype footage not a trailer.

That SOEmote looks awesome, I don't know what's wrong with the OP. Maybe he has a motor neurone disease like Steven Hawking and is just sad he can't actually use the system.
