Yeah new players really need to see that coordinated play which is where the coolest stuff happens.

A game journalist playing, experiencing, and having fun with the game is a lot more important than what some people feel experiencing the stream. The stream had thousands of people watching it, but journalists writing about the game can put it on the radar for far more, possibly millions.

Also, it's not selling the stream, it's not even really selling the game all that much. Nothing to sell. It's trying to build up awareness. Even if someone viewing it walked away from the stream (totally understandable, it did go on for two hours, and I find you can only have so much fun watching other people play games, more often than not) they still know about planetside. Even if they didn't like the stream, as long as the are at least interested in the concepts behind it, then they will likely come back, since it is free to play. If the quality of the footage was make or break for them, then I honestly don't see how the game itself would appeal that much.

Also, it's not like this is the end-all demonstration, like they show this and that's it until release. Far from it, this was really more like Planetside 2's real debut. In alpha. There's going to be a beta, there will be more footage that provides an even better picture of the game. There are plenty of opportunities to attract players, and most of the feedback I've seen for this stream has been pretty positive, and the people interviewed there seemed very interested. Overall, I'd call that a success.
Well the camera should of just followed Experience SOE players who know how to play and show how the game is played.

Following those players owning new players, will be more interesting since it would cut on a lot of suicides

I tried Heavy Assault a bit too... I was able to do alright with it. The ability to gun down a MAX with a pulsar is awfully nice (just gotta aim at the head and make every shot count) but every aircraft was loaded with countermeasures so AA with the fission was really not happening (lancer may have been better for AA). I did alright with a Magrider, took out a prowler, but I also got rammed by a prowler that I think destroyed us both.

Infil has awesome potential, but I feel like its going to be extremely limited without the certs unlocked. I felt like I was walking around with a big "shoot me" sign when I was uncloaked in the field (which was most of the time) and the inability to use any rifle aside from the sniper was kinda annoying, because it was 90% vehicle combat and 1/3 the infantry was in MAX suits.

Anyhow, don't fret about the quality of players on the streams. Between people seeing PS for the first time, and job-headed suits that are impressed by anything pretty regardless of their ability, the lack of keymapping familiarity (some things are moved around), and the lack of Light Assault users dropping ammo for other classes, the streams aren't going to contain the best gameplay.

Also, the internet was kinda shaky all day. Not for SOE specifically, but for all of E3.
im glad to hear that galaxies seem tougher now then in ps1

TotalBiscuit just tweeted that they've asked SOE players to do somethin a bit more organized to scare the booth goers during tomorrows live stream.

Highlights of stream was the team that used the liberator over the base, pretty sick players who really worked together well to rain down damage. Also loved the tr max team that was roaming and killing a ton together. Early on in the stream a light assault was jumping around like crazy and giving enemies the slip, very entertaining. None of the infiltrators, medics, or heavy assault were notable from the stream.

I understand that the rate of fire for me is faster than their flares recharge, but I still don't have the muscle memory to immediately break lock and reload after firing a locked shot (stay zoomed in and you'll never stop to reload), plus there's tons of cover they can use to hide from AA. No lancer, just a situation where I'd use one.

It sucks for new people who don't know.
I'm new, having never played PS1 and I can tell just fine..
Everyone knows press suck at gaming, and can discern from TB/Others saying this is only a fraction of what will be happening that the game will indeed be much better when in beta/release

Even if everybody knows the press suck at gaming which I doubt that everybody knows BTW.....People won't to watch gameplay consisting of suicides, walkiing around finding nobody, and standing around.

Nobody wants to see that.

Justify it all you want, but people want to see real game play of people that know what they are doing.

There were a lot of segments that showcased a lot of great gameplay. There was a lot fumbling around with controls and crashing into cliffs, but I don't think people are going to fixate on that as the basis of their opinion of the entire game. People are dumb, but I give them a little more credit when it comes to discerning one person's misadventures through a game they don't understand, and what reflects the game as a whole.

If someone is really that dumb that they take in someone crashing into a mountain as a reflection of the entire game and they won't play as a result of that, then good riddens. They sound like a dumbass.

Well, hopefully tomorrow Team SOE will bring some Heavy Assault to the fight. In that whole vid I only saw one guy tossing rockets at a MAX.

I don't get why they decided to show a 3 cap. point base. It looked like an ordinary FPS for new people.......

Judging a product based on how other people play it....keep your friends away from the professional side of the games industry please.

Yeah, crappy comment, I know, but you're being outwardly confrontational in this thread and honestly don't deserve an open dialogue. With anyone.

E3 is an INDUSTRY showcase, not a gamer showcase. It's rapidly become the place to show off new tech. It looks like what you're looking for it the thing that PAX offers the gaming industry.

I saw some awesome players getting multiple kills before they were taken out. I knew most of the other players didn't know what they were doing. There was team killing, bad driving, misuse of weapons, etc... I think TB was great with the commentaries about these fubar moments.

Im not saying the players should now how to play or that they should discriminate against n00bs and not let them play....

Im saying the cameras should follow SOE experience players who have played for a while so we can see some proper gameplay.

As for people thinking suiciding is the whole game...Obviously not, but arn't these gameplay videos suppose to show the viewer how the game is going to be?.......Why would somebody keep looking at a video where people just suicide?.......This video is to hype people up and is hard to hype people up with people suiciding or to even stay and watch.

My friends didn't say "I'm not gonna get the game since is about suicide"...So yeah, stop lying.

They didn't like watching videos of people not knowing what they are doing.....Seems like a logical thing....Most people don't like seeing others crash into catus tree or canyons in videogames..

My friends wanted to see real gameplay footage which some were shown to be fair but a lot of it was people walking around or killing themselves.

I know is E3 and is too show off the game...Im not saying to not let people who suck at videogames not play or to kick them off if they suck....I'm saying the camera should follow SOE experienced players to show off the game to new fans.

As for me being confrontational...I don't feel like I am, just trying to add some perspective.
