Idea for a new aircraft

Assuming the galaxy is a really slow air unit i'd like there to be a fast agile half squad air transport for rapid deployment. Could carry 6 people total, 1 driver, 1 "belly" gunner (a gun under the aircraft). No MAX's or vehicles in it. Having a fast dropship would be nice at times, another option for air travel than the slow galaxy and the other option of returning to the Sanctuary.

What ya all think?

I mean, theres a fast APC (deliverer) and a slow APC (sunderer), why not have the same option for beeing airborne.

That sounds cool, but then who would ever want to drive an APC again when you could have the same thing that flies? Although it would be kind of cool to have a sort of support dropship rather then just the galaxy dropping troops. I can imagine a galaxy surrounded by a few of these little dropships, being escorted by mosquitos and reavers, but being raided, and.....GOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS GAME TO COME OUT!!!

Obiously, the dropship would only be able to the spawned at the same place as the galaxy so theres those limitations keeping dropships from totally replacing the APC's

I see only one real problem with this. It's possible this would cause people to discontinue using the Deliverer and Sunderer (unless you don't have access to a dropship facility on your continent).

The transport you're discribing definately sounds like a Vanu specific vehicle.

If something like this were implemented perhaps the TR might get something like the AC130 Gunship or similar to the Vietnam Era AC47 Puff the Magic Dragon (much more likely). The sight of a bird like that wheeling about the battlefield would surely cause those Vanu misfits to flee in terror.

Wonder what CN would get. I'd rather not see Bombers in PS.

EDIT: Hrm, beat me to the APC comments. Must type faster at 3:30am.

Would be common pool, a fast dropship would be to much of an advantage for 1 side alone i think.

it sounds okay, but ya it might cause some problems, I would love to drive the sunderer or the deliverer, sounds great, I dont think I will have any aircraft cert at all. And that fast thing at the dropship center only, to get a empire specific aircraft would almost replace the empire specific buggy if it wasnt slow enough so no I dont think empire specific either.

It'd be common pool, I think they should make JUST a gunship too, with like 6 gunners, it'd be slow, but powerful.

I'd be happy with a 2 seat fighter and a 3 seat bomber. Then you can throw in a 2 crew, 3 passenger transport somewhere down the road.

People would still use ground transports. Two reasons: Likely, more armor. Lower visibility and ability to take cover.
