Having the three distinct anti-vehicle weapons on each empire really makes me wonder if the Decimator will be used at all. I personally really like the model for it. I also like the whole idea of a fire and forget missle.

Perhaps if it does fenominally more damage than the other 3 AV weapons it'll get it's props.

Beta guys, seen anyone use the Deci?

That's what i'm saying, unless the phoenix's number or rounds is very limited than the others will suck. Even if the reload time on the phoenix is twice as long as striker, if they have the same amount of missiles the phoenix is WAY better since you can simply hide behind vehicle/building/terrain and fire away. If the phoenix has a lot less missiles than the Striker than ok fine.

Yes, that is a good point, but against actually armored units, the Striker still seems like a better weapon. This is a guess but, because of the fact that the Striker has a magazine, i figure it could launch its payload relatively fast, this could take out an armored unit much faster then guiding say 2 or 3 Phoenix rockets at a target.

Yes, but I think that is only if you shoot them "dumbfire" mode at the target. It must take longer for you to get a lock on the target for the heatseaking to work. so they are almost the same concept.

Well, I'm guessing once you get a lock, you can launch a few rockets without loosing it, as long as you track the target with your crosshair.

Trust me when you guys see the phoenix fire you will know its l33t. In the video a guy fires it past what seemed to be his view distance due to fog or something and right up an ANT's arse. Its pretty sweet.

ripoff...

the pheonix is just a ripoff of Unreal Tournament's Redeemer. although i doubt the pheonix is going to have as much damage as the Redeemer, because the redeemer liquified anything it touched. also the Bolt-Driver sniper scope is a ripoff from Red Faction. but i dont care. their fun weapons. i mean with a pheonix you could fly the rocket cross country.

Just for the record on rip offs;
I played a multiplayer arcade tank game that had guided missles that work just like the phoeinix before the phrase "first person shooter" even existed.

well,

ripping off comes standard with pretty much everything. they are good ideas, and when good ideas come out what happens, rip-off after mock-up, after cheaper-version. like when Max Payne used Bullet time almost everygame had something similar. Bullet time is only cool in the Matrix and MaX payne. ripoffs are everywhere most everything nowadays are ripoffs of some other thing. i could go on and on and i wont. unless some actually wants me too. which i doubt. humf

In Planetside_beta_gsi.avi you can see it. It has a total of 4 missiles, i hope that the Striker and Lancer have more shots than that otherwise i'm gonna hate the AV weapons.
