What if me and ten of my friends are playing for New Conglomerate on a continent that is right now pretty equally split we decide to raid one of our bases and claim it for our new clan within NC (If NC is yellow think orange or a slightly different shade of yellow) I am the leader. Fast forward a month and we are rising to the top within our continent (even our server) as NC's major clan as we knock out other clans (you must own at least one base/outpost). Our glory doesn't last for long as other clans decide to put us in our place we lose power, but we stay pretty prominent. Eventually I get tired of fending off rival clans within NC and fighting for the glory of NC against other clans so I gather all the major clan heads on my continent (as we haven't spread to other ones yet) and we decide to rally against TR and VS. about two weeks in and it's going great TR rallied rather fast and was able to fend us off and hold there borders while VS reveals deep inner faction hate and it takes the all the way tell they are backed into a corner to rally, they decide to reach out to TR for help TR reluctantly agrees as they know once VS is gone they won't hold the continent for long. My clan has been claiming all NC won bases, this doesn't go unnoticed by the rival NC clans who decide to "redistribute" the bases and outposts forcefully which causes my clan to declare the peace treaty null and I'm back to fighting against my own clans again.
I think this would make the game so much better as politics allways make things more interesting. Just a thought hope you guys like it. |

OK. You diverged on a tangent by telling your story it seems, and I didn't get much out of your story, except for the end where the VS and TR team up, which is kind of odd, and seems a bit cliche(the whole story does) and then after that once your outfit wins the whole continent, the other outfits turn on you and then the NC kill each other?
It would be cool if the outfit who contributed most to a base outfit got credit for it, like say, their icon next to the base on the map or something like that. I'm not against any politics elements being added to the game, but we don't need anything like bands of feuding NC outfits. That's just infighting, which would lead to green on green combat with the occasional orc WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHH!!!! to go take another continent. Also, there aren't a whole lot of "team ups" between factions and there doesn't need to be. |

I really don't want to be fighting my empire. We're trying to create faction loyalty amongst players. I hate using this blatant logic, but if you want to fight against your faction join another faction. As much as outfits are stressed in the game, they are still part of the factions and basically for organization and to build networks within the community. Not to tear factions apart.

I'm thinking feudal Japan, and here's my take on your story.
You are the leader of your outfit, you decide to raid a friendly base ruled by the NC, your coup is successful and you claim it. The rest of the NC decides that your actions are highly reminiscent of the tyrannical regime of the TR and they eventually enact martial law to combat your empire. The hostilities elevate and by the time you've reached full strength, the rest of the NC have begun to march against you and fortify themselves against further expansion by your followers. It's about the time the hostility is at the peak that myself and the VS call for a minor cease fire with the TR and we sit in each others footholds drinking grape and cherry kool-aid and watching all the massive, freedom fighting corporations bring you to your utter defeat or force you to secede from the Blue and Gold colors. In which case, neither the TR or the VS would accept you because you are a loose cannon, and you may be forced to create a new Empire which will be inexplicably powerless against the primary three powerhouse factions. That's just my thoughts, but I do have to say that the politicing should stay out of Planetside, not because it wouldn't have its moments of fun and glory, but because there just won't be enough participation to really care and it could get really annoying for the rest of us casual players. |

I'm sorry if it came across wrong, I didn't mean we just randomly raided a base I meant it as if there was already warring clans and I wanted my own and to do that I need a base so I fought for one. On the side of loyalty for your faction the early families (clans?) of rome, while fighting for rome they're ultimate goal was always for the "Glory of Rome!" uniting your empire under one banner.

TR: This could be the case, but this would only happen with the oldest and most militarily tried and true outfits against the NC and VS, and even then the TR preach loyalty, so even if there was an outfit "owned" base, it would have been granted by the upper echelons, the ones we don't hear about because technically we are all just grunts in this war. VS: This would almost never happen because it's unity to our science that makes us strong. So long as we stick together, we can continue our self evolution and defend our philosophies. NC: Freedom from oppression. Isn't that the NC slogan? They don't want anyone to gain ultimate power within their ranks. They expect that if you have respect, you earned the right, and you earn their respects by fulfilling the New Conglomerate's mission, not by showing everyone how awesome you are. These are just lore examples, once again, I really don't think that politics and inner fighting belong in the game because you are already going to have rivalries happening within Empires anyway. Just not for bases and "well we have x amount of bases, you only have y", but it's a healthy rivalry. Plus! You make it so that outfits can claim bases, what about those outfits that are just in the game with their friends? They don't have five hundred members, they only have about a dozen. They want to be able to be involved in the things that the biggest outfits can compete in, and there is no way they can compete on that scale, it makes them feel inferior and broken. It's a good idea, I just know it couldn't fit into a game where more than half the players will be casual folks. Last edited by Cuross; 2012-06-14 at 04:11 AM. |

On another note as far as outfit rivalries, I think they might be putting in some form of leaderboard. I'm pretty certain that if they did that, outfits will have their own, and the Auraxis Global Network (the livestream talkshow from the PSU website staff) is doing special outfit things? I think? Interviewing an outfit leader for just being an awesome outfit, haha. It's not as competitive as what you suggested, but it's quite nice. Also, once the game is running (not walking after Beta), we can bring up the idea of outfit specific events again. Many people are interested in that kind of event, so it will likely see its way into the game at some later point in time. |
