One thing about the aircraft crashing instead of blowing up...they used to have this in Planetside but they took it out because it was royally frustrating to be stuck in your aircraft with no control as you slowly plummet to the earth.
I think it's one of those things where the concept sounds cool, but the actually implentation of the gameplay is less than desireable. P.S. OP didn't sound like complaining at all. It sounded like suggestions to me. |

As the pilot, you would switch to a third person view of your aircraft falling from the sky, because your character itself is already dead. Then the kill screen would pop up after a couple of seconds of being dead, or quicker if you click to skip past your death view. |

Another alternative could be that the craft doesn't always explode on impact, and the pilot can climb out of their burning craft before it explodes into a million tiny pieces. This same mechanic would have to work on ground based armor too as well, mind you.

I think the whole skip feature would probably be the best solution to adding that great "oh snap I'm dead!" feeling some of us wanna see. Spiraling aircraft and having the pilot die as soon as he loses control is perfect I think. Hopefully some dev like person will see this!

From watching the TB day2 stuff from E3, the exploding aircraft look fucking amazing at night with flaming debris fying off in all directions and falling to the ground. It looks pretty good in the day but at night it's just beautiful. I'm all for the way that they have it now.

People jumping on the OP's nuts like they jumped on my nuts when I proposed a more realistic "bullet in the chamber" reloading system. Relax guys, it's a good suggestion for implementing the physics engine. Hell maybe the debris can do AoE damage to infantry below. Cone-debris follows basic destruction physics. If we blow up an ATV going 90 kph, should the game make it instantly blow up in place and leave a blackened hull? Or have that hull keep careening forward?

And having the extra bullet cuts down on reload time soo much. probably over 1 second in most cases. |
