Yep, this would add so much <3 to home conts. I was already desperately protective over forseral, and that was some arbitrary crap, seeing as how they changed it to solsar and hossin or whatever.

That frozen lake idea sounded awesome, i could imagine home continents having the home empire have the advantage of being designed specifically for them, so Vanu and ice lake is perfect, don't know how NC would fit in, maybe massive open plane with base on top of a big hill, to allow a massive firing area, or a narrow 1 way in type base where all the defenses focus at 1 spot.

There needs to be a duct tape store on every corner in the NC one (like Starbucks).

I like the idea. Should be decided they become accessible if through total continent capture which I see rarely happening so I suggest each week one of the 3 factions continents is unlocked for fighting with the 4 week all 3 are locked. So there's constant rotation for all 3 factions to defend their piece.

I like the old cont system, with home conts. I liked it when I could capture the territory, the bases and the cont and the benifits. With PS2 I'll only get bases with resources attached to a territory. I will not feel the triumph of kicking the enemy off the map in PS2. I want to feel ownership bigger then a big base. I want all 3 conts. But not the way PS2 is going to be setup now. No I will have to share the cont with the enemy. Somehow puts a sour taste to it. How will my enemy know they were conquered. They will only know a limited defeat when they lose a base.

And Hamma I see the VS and the NC have infiltrated your board. So the TR will have to kill them all and make them the yellow bastards they are

They'll know they're conquered when the only base they have left on the continent is under a bubble that only allows them and them alone to enter it, as they stare out beyond that shield down the barrel of your tank, just daring them to leave the sanctuary of their foothold.

This still happened in PS1, only there was no faction specific base in that bubble.

I doubt the game dynamics will allow it. You would have to be able to back up both factions at the same time across a huge battle line most likely fighting both factions earnestly. This map is more like Cyssorcide, not a home planet fight witout links limmiting fighting / conested areas. Cyssor was winable when one of the factions where fighting to keep a home planet / cont or other fight that drew down their numbers. PS2 numbers will stablize as people decide on where they like to fight most. New maps will be brought into the game to accomade ever increasing numbers of players if the game is a winner. There will never be just a one on one fight on any planet in PS2. It will always be three way. Unless of course the game fails, and the pops are very low on each map. Either way you have to pick a side of the map you want to play on, since now all territory must be captured.

Then your previous post is entirely a moot point, especially with only 3 continents and 2000 players planned per continent.

Yeah exactly, and the empire seem different enough so the Continent cities are different.

As for people saying it doesn't make sense that they will build cities with own architecture...why not?

First of all what is the time span, the empire separated from the Terran republic?

Second of all, if they can build tanks, weapons, etc and even respawn troops....Why wouldn't they have the technology to quickly build cities for the citizens that they had?

NC is the only one that it really makes sense they will have their own cities since they were corporations....So Im sure their they could say factory/mining based continent which was largel influenced by the corporations will be the New conglomerate continent.

VS...Well they have Alien tech, like I said, it seems possible they could rebuild a city fast to make it their own style.

I would be in favor of a kind of sanctuary that can be invaded from multiple warp gates. The warp gates could still be continent footholds but if say, all adjacent territories are lost then the shield comes down and its capturable. These then provide access to the "sactuary" which can be taken down to one "foothold" that can never be taken.

If they do that, each of the impregnable foothold should have a war museum with exhibits of Planetside 1. Just a fun little thing.

really like the idea of 3 faction specific continents, nothing better or worse than having your place or there place taken over, we can see from the forums alone how deep faction pride can be.

Some of the most vicious fights I've been in PS1 were over what people called the home continents, I remember getting locked into an almighty struggle with a VS outfit over Amerish, they just wouldn't give it up no matter how badly out numbered, they attacked again and again non stop in a frenzy, good times

That might work in the future as well..The sancturay continents will basically just be cities of the empires.

That's exactly why I want them...I can just imagine seeing my TR world getting destroyed, holding on to one base on the continent.....and no one giving up because that is our continent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
