Even given these matters are taken care of already and a developer is sitting there thumbling his thumbs, there are better ideas to work on than just a base for outfits.

I always liked having outfit HQ's. If anyone every played warhammer online, there was a guild hall that was instanced for guilds and you could have merchants and various storage in there. You could also hang trophies from guild achievements and banners that represented your guild colors. They even had another room just for officers!

I really enjoyed having a place only my guild could go. It was still in the main city so you weren't separated that much and I feel Planetside 2 could implement an instanced area for outfits with similar things.

Maybe they could have trophies for reaching 100 base captures or killing 100,000 of a enemy side etc. Maybe make the banners show outfit colors or have symbols associated with the type of outfit they are. (ie. Piloting focused outfit would have a Galaxy or Reaver symbol etc.)

There are a lot of fun ways this can go and build a community place for your outfit. It definitely is NOT a launch thing, but could be fun down the line.

If by outfit HQs, you mean orbital offensive stations, then yes every outfit should have a fortress in the sky that can be piloted.
Just daydreaming here, but something that actually matters to the fighting and outfits can call home is what is needed.

Yup although WaR was total shite, there guild hall/guild setup was brilliant, they also had the same kind of kin hall in Lotro, where you could hang trophies, add decorations furniture etc, and it was funny to see how many members spent hours making things for the guild hall, its adds to a game every time.

The idea that was thrown out there a while back about Outfits having mobile ships they can use as HQ's is honestly the greatest thing I've heard of.

They would have to limit how many Outfits per faction can have these ships, and perhaps allow other outfits to use the ships as reload/spawn points.

Ships would not be the answer thats the reason I started this thread, this is not a real space game in that sense, a ground base servers all, while a mobile flying base servers mostly the Outfits who are air only.

But now that this thread has being stupidly being dragged out the main chat forum it will just die a quick death

Well, I'm not opposed to ground based Outfit HQs, as long as they are not instanced, invulnerable, or take away from the empire as a whole. Which is why I prefer airships, they add everything missing and take little if anything.

With the F2P micro transaction system of PS2 the implementation of such outfit bases could be another good source of revenue for SOE. Imagine outfits spending all kinds of cash buying up furnishings for their "pad". I'm personally indifferent to the idea, I could take it or leave it, but if it could bring in more revenue for the game thereby contributing to the overall health and life of the game then I'm for it.

Very good point, tho I'm not against it being instanced, as very hard to implement otherwise.

They could go down the AoC route & have 20+ bases per instance say maybe 7 per faction ... could be very interesting

In my opinion if I would just use my outfit HQ just for messing around with my teammates, then I would just prefer the HQ being a separate area from the battlefield, where you can mingle before deploying on the battlefield. I would love to be able to make my own HQ where we can display certain things according to our outfit, but I don't know if that would be implemented. If it would be, I wouldn't appreciate the idea of building up your HQ and having the enemy attacking it, which is why I think it should be separate from the battlefield.

The answer is not outfit HQs miles from the frontline. That can lead to inactivity away from the frontline. Gotta have something that is as mobile as the action. Just to be clear, the airships we are fantasizing about don't necessarily have to impact the battle directly thru firepower. It can be more like a slug-slow galaxy the size of a base in low orbit. Maybe have some limit on its movement based on controlled territory.

Also, I am not done fantasizing BTW.
