After I Upgraded... Help!

I just got a new graphics card and power supply and after barely fitting both in, my computer is telling me to select the boot device (which I know how to do) to install my Windows CD. The problem is my computer had Windows Vista pre-installed on it so i don't have a CD. What do I do?

Double check that your hard drive(s) are connected?

there will be 2 different cables to plug in, one is the power and the other goes to the motherboard. you probably forgot to plug the power in. i've done that before and i've built these things many times. the other thing you might have to do is go into the bios and make sure the drive is detected there, you might have to manually select it depending on the bios settings. just fyi. hope that helps.

Where do the cables come from? The cables I have unused are 4 sata from my PSU and 5 peripherals, with the sixth plugging into something... Where does the FDD cable plug in?

Youd have a 24 and a 4/8 pin going to mobo - some pcie's going to the graphics card - then the sata or molex going to hard drives or CD drives. All that is coming from power supply.

Then you'd have sata cables going from hard drives to motherboard.

I have the 24 and 4 pin plugged in to the mobo, and the pcies going into GPU and 1 sata going into cd drive from PSU, and a small flat pink sata going into cd drive from mobo. then another small flat pink sata going from mobo to HD.

EDIT- I found another sata port in my hd that i didnt see. thanks everyone

You might as well ask it here. The thread no longer has a purpose and your problem doesn't have a thread...They're a perfect match.

Edit: That's what I get for replying to a thread before reading the other ones first.

Lol, classic: forgot to plug the new PSU's lead into the HDD. So what's your new problem?
