Smoke shells from Tanks/Libs/Gals


I see that liberators are capable of firing toxic gas canisters that blanket an area with radioactive poisons for 10 seconds at a time, why not allow them to fire smoke shells that can cover a target area in smoke? Same goes for tanks and galaxy gunners. It shouldn't be too hard to implement, should it?

Smoke screen on Liberators would be amazing for supporting ground troops or covering the sky from ground fire. I like it, adds a tactical support element to a fairly offensive platform.

I think we can rest assured that there are going to be some of those kinds of tactical disruptions coming into the game. Personally I would absolutely love to see a couple of Liberators dropping shell after shell of smoke over a base and a full outfit geared out with thermal scopes wading through and killing everyone as they cap the base

Personally, the Lib frightens me as it stands. I can't imagine just how much it will be able to accomplish, it seems like it will be the greatest ground support, damage dealing gunship for a while to come. I am really not looking forward to seeing even two of these on the battlefield at any given time haha.

Just imagine four of them hovering at 1000 meters in diamond of death. Nothings getting out of that alive.

Now take that image and imagine TotalBiscuit's Loverators hovering at 1000 meters in diamond of death :P No one is going to be respawning just out of sheer embarrassment haha.

Actually, I would love to see a Galaxy cert that smokes the ground where a troop lands during a hotdrop. Twelve dudes drop on point C of a base and when they hit the ground, smoke pops. How's that for momentary confusion?

Great idea! Perhaps the smoke could come in different colors to choose from so that aircraft can make signals to troops in the distance. Example: red smoke means tanks can roll in now, green smoke means heavy enemy presence: do not proceed.

Performance! If they can make it to not kill the lower graphic cards, then ok.
But usually smoke is serious fps killer.

An excellent point! However! This is the Forgelight engine we're talking about, we don't even know the full capabilities of its awesome power yet. For all we know it could have a power level OVER 9000! (and not overload our scouters while doing it)

Doesn't matter how efficient your code is, there's always going to be problems with lower end cards. They could always make the smoke look like total arse on lower cards though.

Nobody says it cant look like old school counter strike smoke on low end cards :P
