So far HA seems the jack of all trades class, so it puts it in a great solo'ers role. You'll see plenty of them.
Based on current information - Does it do any single thing better than any other class out there can, no. So not as good if you have a team backing you up (who like to specialise). That is fine, some people enjoy playing the jack of all trades - that is its role. Based on current information - It does many things well, just no single things better than a specific class. As one person said, it may end up being all powerful because of this, or instead outclassed in any one area. Beta will tell us. How does posing a question make someone a troll. A troll by definition is someone looking to get a rise out of people. This seems a question, which was answered? |

HA has anti vehiclular capabilities, that sets it apart. a MAX outdoors is a sitting duck to vehicles so HA will be where it's at. Not to mention storming any indoor area being the HA is going to work much better than LA.
They totally have a place.

When I read the title I thought this thread was about the Heavy Assault weapons themselves, which we haven't seen.
The HA Class - it definitely has a place. - Strong ballistic dampening shield allows them to absorb a lot of damage. - The LMGs put out a lot of dps and seem roughly equivalent to MCGs of PS1 only with more accuracy. - They are the primary AV class So their place is a backbone to your infantry squad with a flexible set of weapons and the ability to be Anti-Infantry and Anti-Vehicle simultaneously. You'll need them for the AV role, which we have seen is different from the MAX AV role, and they're more agile than MAX suits. The Shield gives them some survivability options a MAX doesn't have, and of course they can cap, pilot vehicles, etc. Nice all-around solid class choice actually. They also are the only class to use the Heavy Assault weapons, like the MCG, Lasher, and Jackhammer, which I expect are all getting quite a bit of changes from the way they operated in PS1. The "Heavy assault" weapons as we know them from PS1 are the things that I wonder won't have a place. They'd have to be really good at close quarters to justify taking them over a more general-purpose LMG. If I were to question the usefulness of any class it would be the Light Assault, especially in a squad setting. The only thing they offer is a jetpack. I don't see why you would take one over the more versatile and survivable and useful Heavy Assault which can deal with all sorts of threats and be a backbone to the squad. |
