You can download a Demo of FreeLancer, a new spacecombat game that sounds very much like Elite (never played Elite myself but people said it was the game of its day)
I -Love- space combat games but there is never anything good on the shelves, Freespace 2 ROCKED but I never got the chance to finish it

PCgamerUK give this game a really good review and the screenshots looked Ace.

Sorry I ment like FPS space combat, Like Xwing VS TypeWriter but Homeworld does kick Unrivaled ass!
