Smed is a CEO, it's his job to set tight dates to keep his staff working, and not wasting their time dissolving the back of their pants on a chair. The policy may sound incorrect, but it is, for my HR-management experience (military that would be) tells me that not keeping a tight leash makes people lazy over time.

Thats what it seems to be the current situation. Or there is major gap between him and the dev team. He seems to be trying to be a PR guy, and he isn't doing a great job. He seems to miss anything he says will be taken out of context and be seen as facts.

I just hope whatever may be happening gets fixed quickly

what you talking about?

every mmo hold their beta plans and release dates
(wow, gw2, diablo3(ok no reall mmo but..),RIFT,TERA) just to name a few

ps2 is the only one which did not, wasnt beta announced last year already? lol

and with that they gave away a piece of planetside 2 to an unknown european company it will most likely fail here anyways, and im not gonna play on laggy US servers anymore

Obviously this means they have catastrophic technical problems and are only now realizing that they bit off far more then they can chew. The technology is just not at the point where a game like Planetside 2 is possible. The project is being shelved indefinitely. Perhaps in 10-15 years they can take another look at this ambitious endevour. Thank you and good night.

they knew that they cant start it today or tomorrow but they chose to announce it anyways

and just look at the ammount of people from europe interested in this game, i can tell you its almost non existend
not 1 single european esports site reporting about planetside 2

if you google planetside 2 you will get 2-4 german links, from magazines with 0-10 comments on a news lol

Its true. Planetside 2 is cancelled. Microsoft bought the engine and in-game resources and is now having Rare (the rest of their studios have REAL projects) making Halo Online! With Kinect and Avatar Support!
