In this specific case, I don't think there is a correlation between the two. Too many people have resubscribed to get into the beta at this point for the number of players online to be indicative of the number of active subscribers.

I have no doubt there are some but I doubt that number is that big at all.

i really doubt people spend 11€ every month just to get into a beta of a game..

and the number of active players dropped IMMENSELY after this 1 free month

That's me. It's possible to create a profile on the forums, somebody posted a link or something, I don't remember. Anyway, I ended up being allowed to create a profile, but it doesn't do anything and I can't actually see the forums. But... If I have a profile, and you don't... I guess that still makes me more "in" than you

No, I absolutely believe there is a corrolation. But what is that corrolation? 2 active subscribers to every 1 player currently online? 5:1? 10:1? 2000:1?

We have no idea what number it is. But like I said earlier, Smed knows exactly what that number is, and exactly how many people they will be letting into the first wave of beta, and as of last Wednesday, he said it was impossible to let all the active subscribers in on the first wave. It's really that simple.

u even quoted the post by urself..

that makes a lot of difference

You don't remember those forums during closed beta? They were filled with people begging for beta invites or begging the devs on when the open beta would start or crying about how they had been active members and they didn't get an invite but some n00b got in ahead of them. And Red 5 said the same thing the PS2 devs have been saying all along "when it's ready"

So yeah, Red 5 is doing the right thing, just as SOE is.

He said "Existing PS1 players" not "Former PS1 players" You're right, the wording is important.
