I would definitely suggest that they implement a setup for player organizations like DAoC guilds. You could set up multiple ranks, a hierarchy of control, with different permissions (permissions to let people in etc) -- now, those titles were only visible to people in your own Guild, and then only if they queried you, but that's the point -- it's for internal organizaton.

Wouldn't it have just been easier to say that at first? Instead of typing out an unheard of acronym, then putting what it stands for in parinthesis? It would make more sense if the acronym actually spelled out a word, or if it was an existing, well known acronym.
Whoa... I'm in a nitpicky mood for some reason, don't mind me... As for ranks, I'm sure there will be in-game support for a ranking system for outfits. What form it will take is anyone's guess. From what mr_luc said about DAoC, it might be like that, or it might be like T2 with only 4 ranks, we really don't know at this point, though my guess is that there will be a pretty thorough system for something as important as this. |

In JumpGate, squad ranks have nothing to do with the game. The leader of the squad picks who has access to letting people in the squad. Everything else that has to do with squad organization is through that squads web site, and the people in the squad doing what is told from who they know is in charge. Giving a squad mate a title that shows up ingame is really pointless. Well, if you have an outfit with 500 poeple, it would be impossible to remember all the commanders, so this would be helpful.

Even on the assumption that they would put in a 5th rank commander from the get-go (they won't, but let us all travel on a flight of fancy)....who would it be? There would be no fair way to establish those individuals...and there would need to be quite a few of them. 3 factions * 5 release servers * 20 commanders (to cover different playtimes, and the large area of the world that needs coverage) each. What if (quite likely) some of them suck at it? Have the GM's run around and rate performance and hand out demotions? No thanks.
