I finally got killed by one, but I was disappointed that there was no distinct sound nor could I easily tell someone was carrying it.

I personally liked the larger than life gun models of ps1, especially the revered "heavy" weapons. The distinct sounds were also important and fun elements that, based upon what I've seen so far, are severely lacking. Such a shame.

In PS1, you knew what faction was coming, or at least what they were wielding by sound alone. Its a god dam tragedy what they are doing.

Yeah, the larger than life gun models, while not realistic, were fun and, more importantly, informative, allowing us to prepare for certain encounters accordingly.

I wish they kept the looks AND sounds.

Dust 514 does not have an issue with leaving something epic. Nor do they have issue with rails..... or cover.

I would be suprised to not see the underslung version. It's still featured in the screen shots on the launch pad and and they've talked endlessly about working on the underslung animations when asked why their not in game yet. I'll admit that it would be sad to not have them in game at launch.
