Nice vid, enjoyed it. New player experience was hilarious, but pretty accurate of what a new player has to expect. Ha. ^_^
The mappers are really doing an awesome job at refining the continents (well, aside from the spawn-room placement - see my thread hehe), especially the parts you showed on indar were a great addition (quartz, west checkpoint). A couple of things from my observation: - Player collision is back on, making it feel more like a proper FPS and less like a "MMORPG". I like that. - "Pitcher" and "Strong Arm" were apparently indeed the reason for suicide grenades. Since these are gone (i had "Pitcher" fully certed) i have not been dieing from my own grenades (i still die from "glitchy" surfaces though - alot). - "Tug of War" from my experience added a bigger window of opportunity for the defenders, resulting in way more interesting fights that lasted longer. It was a right step in making the game feel less like a steamroll from base to base. If they now fix the spawnrooms we might have some interesting fights to look forward to. (- Just the range where you can stand around to influence a cap point should be visible somehow - or if it is - more visible) - Crouching / Standing on (object-) surfaces and aiming results in your character spazzing around now/again, e.g.: Light assault flies onto a prop (with a flat surface!) inside a base and tries to aim from there -> spaz aiming. Edit: After further observation the "spaz aiming" issue doesn't seem to have to do anything with props / meshes but rather with the jumpjets. Also you mentioned the symbols above sunderers; They are not visible to the enemy BUT they are a lightsource, illuminating treetops and other stuff above the vehicle, and that is visible to everyone (should be fixed imo). One time use cosmetic items? I'm not sure i'd like to spend money on let's say a jungle camo for a weapon and if i ever needed to apply a snow camo to it i'd be throwing away the jungle camo i bought previously (effectively throwing away money). Not cool.

Ooh, liking the new player experience They did say they wanted to drop new players straight in to battle somehow, and I love that little tutorial. Almost exactly how I envisioned it, getting those announcer VOs to do the intros!
Also you spawned as TR, but they were showing VS soldiers as squad members. Hope that gets fixed. I'd also suggest making the music just a tad louder to build the atmosphere better And camos are one time use? So I can't just switch between them whenever I want after purchase? Not cool, man |

I was fighting at Quartz ridge last night. I will say this, when you capture from the north (as TR) you are invited to then continue up to Hvar Tech Plant .... don't do it. That canyon is a deatrh trap and once the VS have concentrated enough to push back defending quartz ridge from the south isn't easy as there are a lot of overlooking positions.

The new players experience is pretty basic. I think dropping the player straight into the action is stupid though. What if their graphics settings are not ideal, so they drop right into a heavy fight, and its laggy an they crash out or just get immediately killed over an over? Not a great first experience.
They should drop into the warpgate like normal so they have time to get a feel for things, and make changes to their settings. It should also recommend them to join a squad, an look for a Galaxy or Sunderer to ride in. Though knowing their obsession with making PS2 fast paced they probably will just recommend hitting instant action. |

Mh, maybe this is a bug (or am just nuts) but did they remove the xp bonus for defending bases?
Also one time use cosmetics items seems like a bad idea, unless those are really cheap. I just assume you get your camo back when you switch a weapon to antoher camo. Everything else would be pretty stupid... |
