engineers already have so much going for them, repair tools, ammo resupplies, turrets
giving them strong rifles too may not be such a good idea BTW, i play engie and run shotguns, if i need range i plop a turret down. |

I understand engineers have a lot going for them , was more of a wishlist for them . Primary use for most engineers i know is vehicle drivers . Bailing out of my prowler when it is under heavy fire and being stuck in long range battle with no long range weapons sucks I feel light assault definitely deserves to have them though .

Logically, you'd give the assault rifle to the Engineer (who would logically be supporting vehicles at a distant firing position) and the carbine to the medic, who needs to be up there with the frontline troops as you can't heal/revive unless you're right there on the front lines. *edited to add* of course, I spend most of my engineer time in the front lines dropping ammo packs for people, so I refute my own logical construct with my own actions.... I lol at carbine bashing :P You gotta understand, carbines have their place, and actually outshine assault rifles in some areas. They really rip at close to medium range while assault rifles do better at medium to long range. Personally I prefer carbines over assault rifles. Only thing that confuses me is why it seems like only NC carbines can mount underslung weapons.

I admit that I really wish there was a way to have the assault rifle on other classes, but I don't see how it's possible without skewing class balance (which is already tenuous).
I sometimes feel like we're missing a class, but I'm not sure what it is. |

Actually, it's funny you mention that as I feel the same way.
Maybe another infantry class, no jump packs or toggable shield, but can equip any weapon? A universal, grunt class that I bet would appeal to a lot if players. |

The only place this idea really runs into a stumbling block is with special abilities. I mean, each class has special abilities, it's tied into the certification point system pretty deeply, so they'd need something that they could invest in. Obviously it can't be something too awesome as the ability to roll with nearly any weapon is a significant advantage. Hmm... Last edited by Electrofreak; 2012-11-24 at 12:29 PM. |

I would love to play the LA more and an AR would give you more choice in your playstyle henc giving the LA more of a role on the battlefield. As it sits I think the best weapon the LA can have is the shotgun and its so limited in rangs. As it is the LA is good for short and pointblank ranges and a lot of the fights dont go into that category.

Introducing a long-range weapon into their arsenal would really screw with the way this class works. It would simply encourage rooftop camping. This topic has been discussed to death, and the answer is that the AR is not a good fit for LA unless the LA class gets reworked into something else. I'm of the opinion that another class does need the AR; a class that doesn't exist yet. |
