Hmmm now somthing of this size would of course be a resource hog, so im thinking this could be a air mobile base. Though we have discovered small pools of water on amerish I dont see this being a water based vessel. So if they make this ship part of the the vehicle pool then I forsee there being a big vehicle jam at the spawn point . So I believe this to be the a mobile platform that will be caturable, maybe one or two per continent. With the ability to drop vehicles and personnel at designated points. And control of orbital strikes, which will go to the faction who owns this captured platform. I could work with this. Units could fly up or port up to the platform take the capture points and this will give them more access to spawn points all over its designated continent. Units could spawn vehicles get together a task force and designate a drop point and assault bases. Remember the video were the NC guy threw up a way point and his squad mates locked in and dropped from a vehicle. This would be that vehicle, once a platoon or outfit leaders designates a point to drop, soldiers on the platform can run to a terminal and drop to the designated point. No more recall to sac to get a gal, were burning in boys.

I can totally see this being controllable. If this uses some kind of outfit resource that isnt in game yet we can have massive naval battles in the skies above auraxis. Imagine leading a team of light assaults onto an enemy vessel 1000 meters above the ground. Planting your explosives and making a mad dash back to the flight deck before the enemy cruiser is obliterated. This could be the coolest thing ever.

I am 50% excited out of my mind, and 50% scared (BFR memories..)
I don't want the ground war, and my upped vanguard along with it, to become completely outdated. I am having vivd images of a behemoth overhead absolutely crushing a mid-large sized battle with nothing the enemy can do it about it. This is kinda what I am imagining... ...I shoot my AP tank shells at it, having no time or need to aim as it slowly and inexorably inches forward. The light from the sun fades behind its mass. The main batteries open up and after a few brief flashes nothing but smoking ruins remain of our 60 strong NC armor column. Smoke rises from the burnt out hulls darkening the sky further and limiting visibility. Bodies are strewn about the hill face. My lone tank, hulldown on the cliff continues to fire defiantly. My cannon blasts again, the shell bounces off its front armor having no effect. As the behemoth passes directly above my vanguard its main gun flashes again... There were drivable carriers and battleships in BF1942 10 years ago why not this as tech/optimization improve?
SOE Devs have said all along they hope to have a seemless world someday with continents sparated by water so why not this?? I applaud SOE for pushing boundaries! If this is an indication of things to come the next 5 years will be an amazing time to be sure. I really wish everyone would get a little wider vision of what exactly SOE is trying to do with PS2 as a benchmark game pushing the bounds of technology <--- This rearely happens anymore with devs who have deep pockets. Not to mention what all of this learning on PS2 may do for the developement of the the next PS game??? Last edited by VaderShake; 2012-11-30 at 09:12 AM. |

My thinking is it'll be a transport between continents, it could be locked so that the carrier can't actually fly over a continent, unless they plan to increase the flight ceiling? It just means they could open up the "extra" space between continents and add aerial combat over the waters. Didn't some mention naval vehicles at some point?
Unless they could open up different "air based" and "water based" continent style fighting theatres? Maybe I'm going too far... Also I can totally see an outfit running one or two of these, it'll be a massive resource drain to build, I mean think of the Titan ships in EvE, only very organised and deicated outfits will be able to build/spawn one of these. |

Obviously its a concept, it can end up being a glorified loadstar by the time it enters game or an intercontinental base over water. It is way too early to be saying anything. I just remember BFRs all too well and I have a little bit of that fear in me still I think. I am very excited, I just have a few reservations. It's like after that second interview, when everything went perfectly and you got a great vibe from the Manager. You probably have the job, but you really just don't know yet. Something like this (floaty mobile bases) would be a nifty concept for a faction's home base, and would be much more interesting than just a ground-based.. base. Like people talk about from the first one, but airborne. Sanctuaries, was it?
