Hello...FNG checking in

I'm new to Planetside...but I have been playing shooters and MMO's for years. Mostly the BF and COD series, but MoH off and on as well. Also played APB before and after "Reloaded". As for MMO's, Fallen Earth, Rift...lately The Secret World...

Meh. Anyways, I'm a gamer. The clan I have in BF3 (more like the 5 guys that have gamed together for years) is slowly migrating over into some PS2. It reminds me a lot of 2142, but on a much huger, much more startegic level. So far, I am loving the game.

Similar situation Belch....we also see it as 2142 on a massive scale simply because we never played PS1.

Re: Hello...FNG checking in

yep, a lot of the tech is similar (hovertank, cloaking recons etc...), and even the layout and look of some of the maps/structures looks a bit like it...

I do miss assaulting and defending the Titan. I saw some concept art of a large-ish carrier that Smedley posted...I can't wait to see one of those things in game!

Yea Belch, I think we are going to get a game ultimately that we had hoped DICE would have evolved to instead of deciding to follow COD.

I had been playing BF exclusively for 10 years with about a dozen guys before (IMO) the BF obmination BF3 was released and we lost interest. Let's hope we have several years of enjoyment with PS2...

Re: Hello...FNG checking in

absolutely...while I do like some things about BF3, it doesn't have the same 'feel' of the pre-BC/BC2 releases. I did appreciate Bad Company for it's own thing, but the result seems to be all BF titles moving away from the larger maps that required more strategy, and focusing more on the type of twitch gameplay that is more akin to CoD, CS, etc.

Glad to have found this game for sure, brother. I play TR on Helios if you ever feel like hitting me up. I run with mostly BF vets.
