Do we even know? Originally it was supposed to be 550x3 per continent, but it obviously ain't that now. All I see, night after night, even after spending ten minutes in the queue so I can squeeze in, is one raging-ass main fight and another medium-sized one elsewhere, tops. And neither seems any larger than the battles we were fighting ten years ago. We had some three-way red alerts that *dwarf* anything I've seen in PS2. Obviously the technology isn't quite there yet to allow for Higby's 'hundreds of players fighting hundreds of players in giant clusterfuck battles.' That's gone by the wayside.
So what's the real world figure now? Do we know?

I don't believe we have ever been given any definitive information, only that's it was expected to be 666 per empire 2000 overall (I had heard) but we haven't heard if that was achieved.
550 is a new number to me. |

Back when Sirisan's data puller was working properly, the most populous servers (Matherson and Miller) tended to have around 4000-5000 at peak hours, and since there didnt seem to be server ques then, its safe to say they weren't actually hitting a pop cap yet.

Theres no way to really figure out how big the pop cap for a continent is really.
At least right now. It will be easy to figure out once we have a pop locked two way fight, and a galaxy or two, means a specific amount of players from the third faction, hops on that two way continent. Bit of math and BANG you know for sure. Till then: No way to calculate, only devs can tell us. |

Boss, if that were true, half the map would be lit up at any given time. It ain't. It *can't* be more than around 300 per. empire.

I believe its 2k per continent. Not all players on a continent are active and we don't even know the player range limits for "Platoons Detected" and so on in a hex. There's also usually about 100 players just spread out between about 6-7 territories fighting small battles, or moving between battles.

AFAIK, the pop cap on a continent is 650 players per empire, meaning 1950 players per continent total, meaning 5850 player per server max (+ admins, GMs, etc...)
So... Yeah... Last edited by KaskaMatej; 2013-05-02 at 10:18 AM. |

Not sure why anyone would assume they're lying about the size of the continent population cap. |
