Ever heard of Horizontal Reverse Turn?

Hey guys, recently I started learning a special move for the TR and VS called the horizontal reverse turn. For both the TR and VS, this very hard to master, but it allows TR/VS to compete with the NC Vertical reverse turn capability. For the TR, it pretty much our only alternative since we move so slow through the vertical reverse turn. By comparision the NC have a very slow time doing the Horizontal reverse turn.

I was hoping that someone else might have done a guide or video on this special turn, so I could learn to do it better. Have you heard of the Horizontal reverse turn Does anyone have an video or tips about doing this turn?

I have not, but I do not have much problem flying the same tactics on my mossie that I do with my reaver so IDK.

Biased on that picture, I do a similar maneuver when nose gunning ground targets except its fliped up.

What the hell are you talking about? If you are referring to the classic reverse move, you are wrongly mistaken if you think the mossy can't do that.

reavers have always been able to do this, it's just less elegant because we are so fat

You got my attention. Unfortunately, there's a severe lack of good, in-depth flying tutorial videos out there atm so hopefully someone will step up. The only decent lessons series out there is Reaver only.

Scythe and Mosquito pilots however are out of luck afaik. There's a halfway decent Mosquito tutorial out there but I haven't spot anyone explaining the horizontal reverse turn so far.

Sounds like the OP should spend more time training in VR. No insult intended - I probably should too.

The vertical reverse (aka Split S or Immalmann Turn), using just roll and pitch to maneuver, is relatively easy to come out of with your nose pointed in the right direction - reliably reverses direction and gains altitude in the process.

Adding yaw might swing you around faster, but it becomes harder to maintain situational awareness and to end the maneuver pointing the right way and you'll probably lose some altitude.

Scythe's probably benefit the most from it, since the diagonal motion presents a smaller profile to chasing foes compared to flipping over and exposing your belly at a head-on 90-degrees.
