Controlling your Drop Pod

It dawned on me this morning, while not in game, so I couldn't test my theory, that I may have messed up my key bindings that control the movement of my Drop Pod.

I certainly remember, at one point while using a Drop Pod, that I could control its flight, in a limited way, by using the WASD keys.

To be honest, I don't use it that often, and lately, when I do use it, I don't seem to be able to control it at all.

I am now thinking that this is because I had been playing with my aircraft key bindings in an effort to enable me to fly (I am somewhat more useless at flying than I am at any other feature of this game).

So, could someone please confirm, is it indeed the aircraft key bindings that control the Drop Pod?

If it's not then I'm not sure what my problem is...

They nerfed drop pod controllability some time ago. Now you can hammer away on the wasd as much as you like, you still plummet more or less straight down. Which incidentally is the same way I fly the aircraft in this game too.

Either that or I get locked onto and die within a minute of getting into the air. I certed my Reaver eject ability as soon as I knew what it was for...

As for the nerfing of the drop pod control... Really? I thought you still had a little bit of control. I just don't seem to have any. I dropped onto a spawn beacon yesterday only to end up on the side of the eastern slope at Quartz Ridge. I then proceeded to slide all the way down into the middle of a load of enemy tanks and troops...

Well, this does promote skill-full placement of the spawn beacon and the slight movement to help make small adjustments.

The nerf to controlability was huge but its been in place for a while now.

Actually there has been more than one nerf over time but the last one was the most brutal.

Yeah they've really locked it down but I can't blame them because people like myself would use and abuse that thing to kill buses.

Yeah the control got nerfed a long way back. Which was a shame as I used to love randomly dropping down to take out an esf or gal. XD

With it the way it is, (specially if you do the instant action drop) all you cna do is sit back and hope you dont land somewhere awkward. Expect to die, instantly get to cover and hope for the best. XD

I think I understand now and I'll be more careful when using a spawn beacon to deploy...
