Close Air support

It would it really cool if the ground inf can call in air support by Reavers, like lets say u click a button then select a spot on your map, like a way point but u can see it from the sky so the reavers can come in and strafe the target. juts food for thought

people with the command uplink could do that. If the people in the revers are in their squad.

You would think that a prerequisit for an online team oriented game like this would be the ability for one player to mark points on the map for other players in one way or another. You might just have to ask for air support and then put down a waypoint that only reavers can see. Or only certain people that responded to your air support request can see. You'd probably have to be in the same platoon atleast for that to function well though.

Who knows, may be one of the keen high rank Command abilities that we still know nothing about!

Yes, commanders can set waypoints, and the people in their squad/platoon/outfit can see them on the map and on their screen. Heres a screenshot:

http://www.planetside-universe.com/m...php?img_id=422 See that red beam of light? that is a Terran Republic waypoint, set by the commander.

Heres another. Red beam again.

yes but i would like different color arrows for different things like say light blue markers for where anti air is needed, dark blue for anti vehicle, yellow for anti inf, maybe keep the red for a general assemble type thing. also it shouldnt necessarily be limited to only your outfit seeing them but they should limit the amount that are able to be put on the map that way some idiot cant map spam with the markers. also you could give more for higher command ranks. doesnt sound like much but its the little details that seperate a game from good or great

We're working hard to get the patch out tonight...despite the fact that we're essentially starting from scratch at 9:30 in the evening.
Heh. Dedicated? Insane? You decide. But we're doing it.

No ETA...but our goal is "before Dawn".

i still think it would be cool if infil. guys had a lazer they could paint targets with and some lumax of an aircraft, like the galaxy, could drop some guided missels.

It shouldnt be super accurate or powerful to make it unbalenced but it would push the team play system. u could also make the bomb big and honkin so u could shoot it if u saw it in time... just another way to balence.

The way i would handle the waypoint system is partly like that. I would have different waypoint colors for different needs. But I would keep it limited to your outfit/platoon/squad. You could set the level for each waypoint for outfit, platoon, or squad visiblity and each player would have a limited amount of waypoints for each visibility setting, with outfit being the smallest number, like 2 at the most, and squad visibility only being like 5. That would be for each person. Outfit, platoon, and squad commanders would have more waypoints available and be able to set them to individual people even. Also, commanders would have the ability to set waypoints that only other commanders could see. This would reduce clutter. You would aslo have the ability to turn off certain waypoint types in your hud if you only wanted to focus on squad waypoints, or whatever. Then Outfit commanders would be able to set waypoints for only other outfit commanders to see. That way outfits could coordinate without cluttering everyone elses screen. I think that waypoints should aslo only be visible in the game screen (as a soldier on the ground) from a fairly small distance, increasing in distance the higher your elevation is so that galaxies and reavers could spot waypoints from farther away. You should also be able to select a waypoint on the map screen and highlight it for yourself and the hud should show a compass arrow to that waypoint.

But that's just me. Who cares what i think.
