I joined up and on Nov 18 will head out to boot camp. My MOS is 'Scout Calvary' for the Army.
I read the job description and it seemed cool as shit. Required a high QT score, and is one of the most sought after MOS's for Ranger recruiting.
To start out I get trained in scouting on foot. Camoflauge, sniping, recon, long range anti-tank rocketry, and the preliminaries of laser spotting (for air/artillery strikes). I also get trained in light armor as a gunner for a bradley vehicle in a calvary unit. Most of my training will be joint-training with the Marine Corps (Hoo Rah!)
As I get promotions I move more towards command of light armor devisions.
Does anyone have any information on being scout calvary? Im talking to my recruiter next friday about it and im burning up with questions.
Also does anyone know how the stationing works for the Army? My job had the benifit of getting "station of choice" and I picked Europe. Once im done MOS training they send me to the 21st (i believe) in Germany. Once im there how does stationing work? Can I request a station? Are they assigned automatically? Is there any way to insure you get where you want to go?
Thanks
