Planet side, is it worth playing or TRYING?

Hi there, I am a new user to the forums, I have a friend (IRL) that plays this game, he parted from his TRIBES clan, and went to play this game, some of this team memeber wouldn't join him because of the typical reason.

"Is a FPS really worth paying 12.00+ for?" So he went at it on his own.

I talked to him on the phone, and he kinda gave me a pitch for it, and decided "What the heck, I'll give it a try!"
HE told me about the 7-day trail period in which you can try before you buy, you can download this at FILEPLANET.

Lo and be hold, the money grubbing scumbags have you there, you can't download it unless you're a subscriber to Fileplanet, and it's what. ...$6.95 a month, if there's another server where I can download this DEMO for free, it'd be great! Probably some leech or FTP site someone has up <shrug> BUt seems all links lead to the Fileplanet site from the Fansites I have noticed that this site doesn't have the "7 day trial" in the Downloads section.


So to add INSULT to INJURY, not only the ones that buy the game for 50 bucks at the store, and then waste money on it on a monthly basis, only to get bored with it a few weeks later...this game is probably no better than QUAKE or Unreal, which are pretty cool action packed games, that you can play for free online. And then when you get bored or just dont want to play them anymore, you didn't throw money in the toilet.

But EVEN the THRIFTY, budget consious people like myself cant even TRY THIS GAME FOR FREE??? Emphasis made on the word "TRY" here.

What kind of SCAM are these people running??

OH, and the cout de graut of all things, I was going to make a post about it in the forum about how it was lame that you have to subscibe to file planet to download the Trail...


AND GUESS WHAT... upon registering IN the forums....when you click on the NEW TOPIC Icon.
GUESS what... I get this message "You must be an PlanetSide subscriber to post to this forum"

Upon this experience, I based my conclusion that this game is NOT worth playing, I'm sure alot of you would probably agree if you were in my shoes just wanting to try it out...but man, I probably wouldn't play this game on principal.


Just my 2 cents, I'm sure alot of it would make sense if you were in my shoes wanting to try it out....
