newbie question - how do I exit window mode?

I hate playing fullscreen. I play all my games in a window, I notice I can *get* planetside into a window, but how do I get my cursor out of it? Like is there a key command to press so my cursor leaves the game? I play in window mode so I can run my AIM at the same time and not get crashed out when someone IM's me.

any ideas? dont know how to explain it really :\
