Sorry to disagree, but PlanetSide was never supposed to be an RPG with FPS aspects. It has *always* been the other way around (an FPS with RPG aspects).
Features have been changed because they were considered irrelevant, not fun, or awkward, but those are the only reasons changes were made.

As far as release dates go, we're not going to make any announcements other than the "End of Q1, 2003" date that we've been announcing since E3. I'm sorry, but you'll just have to be patient. I suggest going to play some of the other excellent games on the market during the meanwhile, and then just watching this space occasionally for release date announcements.

Yup. The updated letter is on my "to do" list. I hope to get to it sometime today or tomorrow so that there is a "New Year" letter on the site after our New Year's Day holiday.
Of course, I've been meaning to update it for quite some time now. So we'll see.
