Ok, like I said in the first post of this topic, it would be interesting for an expansion. Obviously it would take away from game play now, but in year or two it would be nice. And NeoTassadar is right. It wouldn't take much more rendering. Just flat water for oceans, and there's no windows on a sub , so you wouldn't really have to create a underwater enviroment. Maybe a view screen for a sub, and some port holes, a glass dome for an underwater base maybe? But you'd really only need grey kinda bumpy ground. Plus they'd have to put in some type of swimming capibities, so falling off, or abandoning ship wouldn't mean death perse. And it wouldn't be pointless. Any good tactician knows naval combat is estential to war. For example: Warp gates always take you the same location. A squad comes through, and can be ambushed at the gate. Landing craft, and a naval bombardment can over come that. Sure, there's no reason for it, but in two years when the game is getting old, it doesn't sound so bad. Here's a scenario for it even: A powerful weapon is discovered under the waves, left over by the aliens. Who ever gets it, wins the war. So it becomes a "sea race". Only santuary's have a harbour to build ships, and if you want to build more, you have to control a whole continent. So it'll still be a land battle, but there's reason for ships, but there won't be to many. And submarines would definately rule all. Crewman#1: "Captain on deck!" Captain: "Report tactical." Crewman#2: "2 Vanu battleships guarding the port to our sactuary habour. They haven't detected us, we're to low." Captain: "Arm topeados. Rise...." *Sorry, watching a little to much "Hunt for Red October"* |
