Lags. A lot.

So, I have a laptop. That is all the explanation nessasary for why I have low fps and unresponsive controls. Is there any way to set the settings lower than low so I can actually play?

This is something I see a lot, a new game on a new engine lags a lot even on a lower quality setting that looks as detailed as a older game on a higher quality setting, which doesn't lag. Why is it that even at equal quality newer games lag far more than older games on less capable computers?
