1 - Resources are changing a bit. We've found that the current resource system can be a bit overwhelming and confusing to new and advanced users alike. To address this we're changing the resource system to make it a bit more approachable and immediately understandable. Resources will now be bucketed into three use categories, Aerospace Materials, Mechanized Materials and Infantry Materials. All aircraft will use Aerospace Materials, all Infantry consumables will use Infantry Materials, etc. This should help to make it more immediately obvious what the effects of capturing enemy resources is. Along with this the resources on the map have been rebalanced to make access to resources drive combat a bit better. Balancing this will be an ongoing effort. Auraxium will remain unchanged.
2 - Certifications will be going through a "usefulness" pass. With the previous patch we were able to test a lot of our high-end certifications, we found a lot that were working correctly, but many that were broken and others that just didn't give you enough for the cert points spent. With the build going up to beta today we have the certification gain turned back to the normal levels and the certs priced accordingly. However, based on what we were able to learn over the last week we're going to be continuing to modify costs, adjust cert power and in some cases removing or consolidating certain cert lines where they don't feel like they're worth the time investment to earn them.
3 - There's been a few threads lately comparing the Hex system vs. PS1 Lattice system for facilitating large scale battles. I've been reading these threads carefully and I really appreciate a lot of the thought put into them. One of the reasons we're really excited to get you guys onto Esamir is it was designed to have a lot fewer regions, with fewer possible locations to attack and defend should result in much larger and more directed battles. We're really interested in seeing what we can learn from Esamir so that we can use that knowledge to make Indar and Amerish more fun. Our current plan is to continue with the Hex / Influence system rather than a PS1 style Lattice system, but we're likely to be making modifications to regions to ensure that we're encouraging the type of large scale fights that everyone craves.
As always please keep the feedback coming. See you in Esamir!
