So, SOE are taking pains to point out these facts to new players, are they?
How would anyone who wasn't in beta or doesn't read the forums (neither of which is required to play the game) KNOW that these would be considered exploits, assuming that they are?
Why would they not simply think, "oh, the shields stop people and projectiles but not splash damage, ok, I'll use splash damage weapons to keep the doorway clear then".
It is in no way obvious that this isn't a design decision; if (and I appreciate it's speculative about what has been considered) this was being used as evidence of abusing bugs, then SOE should be making that clear to players.
Of course, they don't have to; they don't have to publish any evidence, and they can ban whoever they please, as we all signed up to the EULA.
