I see this all the time unfortunately, and when I tell people not to do it, the response ranges from ceasing their rampage against the turrets to one dude telling me his outfit did it all the time and it was "the right thing to do in case they get the base back and start shooting at us!" Ooookay.
It's not the right thing to do. Spread the word.
I'll share a little "worst case scenario" that happened last night on the final base we took from the Vanu to lock Searhus (Markov). I arrived just prior to the hack in my mosquito, and could see that while the battle had moved inside, it was still fierce and the body count scrolling in the window was high. After a minute or two, we had the hack and the action died down. The TR presence at the base was overwhelming, and towers were ours as well, so no more enemies came. No bid deal, right? Plenty of action beforehand to ensure decent experience to wait out the hack.
Well, two things happen when you have a bunch of TR goons hanging out with nothing to do. The TKs scroll predictably in the window ... and from high above of course I see players at various times laying waste to the turrets.
And of course the base is very low on NTU to begin with.
SO with only a couple minutes to go on the hack, guess what happens? That's right folks, the base runs out of NTU repairing the turrets and goes neutral - the hack is cancelled. So its rehacked. But guess what? That twelve or so minutes prior to the new hack, absolutely no enemies were around.
I got 20 points for the hack after waiting almost a half hour hanging in the sky doing nothing. The TR goons that destroyed those turrets cost everyone in the area THOUSANDS of experience points.
So please, spread the word to those lacking an understanding of the game mechanics.
Thanks for listening, I had to rant this off my chest.
