Fantasy question: Continent revamps?

This is definitely not a priority, but I was thinking that a year from now if its actually even possible to revamp some of the old continents after their interest wears out. Some locations for me are already beginning to wear out their welcome.
Now its been done with EQ and some other games, but the continents are a whole lot bigger and revamping one I suppose is out of the question.
So basically, its out of the question for now it seems, but can you imagine a PS with more interesting locales?
Imagine one of the bases inside the crater at Searhus; Its built into the side of the steep slope of the volcano, and there is only one narrow road to the main entrance...to fall off the edge means a quick trip to a lava pit. But that's not the only way in. Geothermal energy is gathered and giant exhaust vents climb along the cliff above the base. Stairs are built along the giant vents, spiraling down the sides where access doors await at the bottom. The road also forks before the base, and a guard tower is situated right below the base. Next to it built in the wall is a service elevator which leads up to the base.
Or a base in a river valley which is a dam. You can access the damn by taking the tower on the opposite side of the damn and run across to the base, or go through the front entrance, or the side entrance which is behind the uber-cliche waterfall that covers the limestone caverns which leads into the back door of the base.
Damn budget costs, development deadlines, and...whatever else makes it a pain in the ass to implement stuff like this(like having to design everything seperately instead of all Amp stations being just like other Amp stations)!
But wouldn't that be cool?
