Interested in purchasing... but need opinions

I'm interested in purchasing planetside, but I don't want to make a bad decision.

I played Everquest for 1.5 years so I know how MMORPGs are like and I know how buggy they can be

But if you could give me any honest opinions as to why I should or should not purchase it, and things I should look out for.

And if I do... is there any select servers/races/stats etc I should avoid or look for? I'm on the west coast of north america.
