Chapter 20:Combat Preperations

Jack saw him self smash into his own body inhabiting the jeep inside the tube that was the warp gate. There was a flash of light and then darkness. The Enforcer Jeep emerged from the warp gate on Cyssor. Jack, Jen, and Bruno were all still inside, but Jack was unconsious behind the wheel. The big jeep started to careen out of control. Bruno quickly reached between the front two seats and grabbed the wheel, and pulled on Jack's leg to get it off the accelerator. The Enforcer rolled to a stop just outside of the warp bubble and a squad surrounded the vehicle. A medic pulled Jack from the jeep and gave him a shot, he woke up thirty seconds later.

"Hey, Jack are you ok?" Bruno asked him calmly.

"Uh yea... Im fine." He sat up from the ground and looked around the continent, rubbing the back of his head. "Holy crap, feels like I got hit by an AMS."

"Yea we went in one side of the gate and when we came out you were unconsious." Jen told him as she ran up to him. Jack was slowly being helped to his feet by a few soldiers now.

"I had a freaking weird dream too."

"What about Peace?" Bruno asked.

"I dont remember, just know it was freaky." Jen glanced at Jack and they got back in the Enforcer and drove to Aja. It only took 20 minutes to get to the base. The northern wall was still blackened from the combined smoke and ash from all of the shooting only 5 days before. Jack poked the soft spots that used to be bullet holes. The regeneration chambers had done a good job. One more two hour session in one and he would be fully healed. The first 3 days after the incident had 3, four hour sessions each day. The result was rapid healing. The jeep came to a stop outside of the hangar that house Jack's reaver. The snot nosed kid was still making very fine adjustments to the firing mechanisms for the aircraft's cannons and rockets. He looked up at the three of them saluted and gave Jack a tumbs up all in one weird movment. The group walked on towards the barracks and officers quarters. Bruno thanked Jack and went to find a bunk. Jack started walking back towards the Enforcer. Once he got there he unhooked the hover dolly stacked all of the tools on it and brought it into the hangar where his reaver was parked.

"Jack?"

"Yea?" He turned around and answered Jen.

"What is all of this stuff for?"

"We have to do some digging. And what were digging for isnt exactly light."

"Care to tell me what it is?"

"Nope. You will see tomarrow morning." Jen looked at her watch in responce, it was only 1:30 in the afternoon.

"So what do we do now?"

"Gotta make sure there is a Galaxy for us, and I need to get my guns ready, then we sleep for a little while." Jen looked up at him, smiled, grabed his hand, and started happily walking down the tarmac towards the control tower with him. It caught him off guard at first but after a few moments he gently smiled. "Besides." He thought to himself, "There is not many people here today." They got to the tower and Jen released him from her grip. It only took a few moments to get the Galaxy to show up at 1 in the morning. Jack started walking towards the officers quarters with Jen in tow on his hand again. Once he got there he started ringing up his weapons. He spawned out two Gauss rifles and handed one two Jen. A bunch of ammo came next along with two AMP pistols. A CUD was next, a bunch of grenades followed, and finally a decimator. He threw most of it on his back and walked towards his room. Jen followed. The door slid open and the lights turned on. Jack dumped it all on the left of the door. He walked back out and the door shut behind him before Jen could set foot inside.

"Where are we going now?" Jack looked over at her and smiled.

"Im walking you to your room." He grabbed her hand and held on to it tightly. It only took a minute to get to Jen's room. They stoped and looked at eachother, Jen smiled up at him.

"Jack. I... I had alot of fun in the past two days. Um, yea." She giggled, got up on her toes to reach him, kissed him really quick, and ran into her room the door shutting behind her. Jack leaned up against the wall next to her door and rubbed his eyes. He heard the door open again and looked over from under his hand. All he saw was the flash of her hand from around the corner as it grabbed him by the shirt and ripped him around the corner into her room. Surrounded in darkness he felt Jen's hands running down his chest.

"Suprized me again."
