Lag Problem

hey ppl, i have bought a new comp which has a 3.06 processor, 128 mb nvidia geforce 4 graphics card 1 gig of DDR RAM and an ADSL modem connection and i have major lag problems especially outdoors and even when im not in a fight and theres nobody else around, somebody sent me a tell saying i was lagging so badly i was stuck in a wall and he couldnt kill me . I have updated the graphics drivers and set graphics to low but i still have the same problems. My old comp was a 2 gig processor with an 64mb nvidia geforce 2 graphics card and i had 768 SDR RAM and i had hardly any problems whatsoever, occasionally i lagged but so did most other people.

is there any way i can stop this problem and start enjoying planetside again, It could be something totally obvious that ive missed or not done but i would appreciate any advice somebody can give me
