Stabbing correctly

Alright, I'm playing an Inf for now and I've got point blank AMP ambushes down pat. But I'm having real issues with the knife.

Seems to me it should work this war

Stab (primary attack)
charge(secondary attack)
Stab (Primary attack)

But it looks like I'm doing the same damage every time. Shouldn't I do more after charging up?
