Prone really doesn't add *that* much to the game to be worth the effort required to put it in. In addition to the coding changes (which ye gods know how long it would take as the engine was not designed to support it...at all) there are all the animations and views of the prone soldier. 4 armor types (Inf, Agile, Rexo, Standard) x 3 factions = 12 animations. Sure, doesn't sound like much, but I doubt PS has that many animators on the staff at this point...probably one or two at the most. Could take them three or four months to just get the art assets in. I personally would rather those same animators use that time to work on something a little more meaningful...a group of new tanks or aircraft, for instance.
That's the problem with prone. For the work involved in putting it in, it doesn't add much...especially in comparison to the work that those same assets COULD be doing to add real content to the game. I support the Devs desicion to leave it out until there is time to put it in, even if that means it never makes it into the game.
I'm growing weary of having to explain things like this...but if you're silouthetted against a hilltop or wall and getting sniped...there's a simple message:
"Move"
I'm a sniper and have a few infiltrator characters, I have no problems with no prone. Then again, I generally move when I see those bright lights coming at me and my health starts dropping.
