Worth coming back yet?

I played Planetside from beta and loved it,but after hitting CR5, BR18 I started to get bored and was dissapointed with the lack of new features and plentiful bugs.As a result I stopped playing about 6 months ago,but have recently been feeling the call and am considering returning to PS.

Basically I would just like to know peoples opinions on wether the game has improved in the last 6 months and if you reccomend coming back or is is still rife with bugs(lol, surely they must have fixed the lovely door bug by now),unbalanced and monotonous?
After being recently dissapointed by the claustrophonbic Battlefield Vietnam it has got me thinking how much I used to enjoy the massive battles on PS,it was definately in a league of its own.I was also wondering if my old character would still be available if I started subscribing again with all my old details,as starting from the beginning will be a bit of a nightmare, although I suppose a change of empire would probably be a good idea anyway.
Cheers.
