Okay. I recently had to reformat the hardrive on my computer due to some nasty spyware and now that it's all better, i was starting to install the programs and games onto it that were on it before.
I installed UT2004. It worked great. I installed C&C Generals. Works great. I installed Call of Duty. Works splediferously. I installed Battlefield Vietnam... sonofabitch. BF:V opens up, goes through the EA Games sequence, developer opener, and opening movie just fine. THEN i get to the main screen, and it'll go a few frames, then freeze, go a few more frams, freeze. It doesn't lock up or crash, it just freezes for a few seconds. THEN, i tried playing UT2004, and it did the same thing. It didn't do it before I installed BF:V.. So what the shit? I checked to see if Windows needed updated. That didn't help. I tried reinstalling DirectX 9.0b. That didn't help either. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with DX9.0b, but I don't know what. It's really pissing me off. BF:V works fine on my other computer now that I got 2 gigs of RAM, but this computer hates the game. I want it to work, damnit so I can have people over to play over the LAN, but i can't. Pisses me off. Sonofawhore. Help.
