OMG its a major misconception that bringing the tubes down actually lessens your XP. The reason people started saying this, was that when the tubes are down, no more people can spawn to the base, therby stopping the death xp pool from filling even slightly from camping the tubes. AFAIK there is no magic switch that lowers XP when the tubes go down, its just less fighting in the SOI to count for the hack.
