Sporkfire posted the team's current development activities on the official forums. <blockquote>I wanted to check in with you guys to let you know what's happening behind the scenes in development to address some of the issues that the community has put forward recently. Framerate/Stuttering/Performance
There is new memory management code on the Public Test Server. Once that build passes QA, then we will release it to the live servers (hopefully early tomorrow or the next morning). Players have reported that this has helped the stuttering issues for many of them. Past that, FPS optimizations are one of our primary concerns in the upcoming patches and we will improve them for the majority of the playerbase over that time. Flail With regard to Flail balance issues, we have made a few adjustments to the vehicle that should help bring it into balance. 1) Its armor has been reduced substantially to below tank-level. 2) Its shot capacitor has been reduced from 150 to 50. 3) The down angle on its turret has been decreased so there is now a large "under the guns" radius around it and infantry should have a much easier time getting close enough to assault it. Core Combat There are also several changes coming out of the module and cavern gameplay. 1) Module timers are being changed to 24 hours expiration (down from 48). Also, each empire can have up to 15 installed, instead of 10. We hope that this shakes up the gameplay a bit more. 2) We're going to put the hack timer on the cavern facilities. The time will probably be five minutes. This is not the extent of the Core Combat enhancements we are planning. There are still quite a few tweaks we can do and discussions are ongoing among the designers to make the caverns all that they should be. I'll have more details when these things are nailed down. </UL>Great to see they are listening to the community :) To comment in the official thread click here. > > Comment Thread |
