When did I start beating down spoony bards?

Hey guys, I need your opinion on something. For a while my sig said I had been beating down spoony bards since 1989. However, I realized that such a statement couldn't be entirely truthful... Final Fantasy IV (II in the U.S. when it was first released) wasn't released until 1991. However, I started gaming even before then - 1987, to be exact. Yeah, I was all of five then. But still. :P

So, my question is this: should I stick to the release date of FFIV, or should I use "beating down spoony bards" to signify when I first got into gaming as I planned to use it? Or am I a twat for even asking you people this?
