Since you mentioned it, God WAS the first one to kill animals, according to the Bible. And he killed them to provide coverings for Adam and Eve, not even for the meat.
Animals are like plants. They just taste better, but are no more glorious, wonderful, or inviolate. Clubbing a baby seal or swatting a mosquito, neither is a bother to me.
I like the one T-shirt I saw. "If we aren't supposed to eat animals, how come they're made of meat?"
