hacking doors

After looking through the new planetside trailer...carefully...i noticed that is one sceen of a person hacking a door. The hacking device has a red laser coming from it...but it doesn't reach the control panel.....
I just saw another ss of someone hacking a base....the same red laser...
What is this red laser suppose to be?
