It has been confirmed that there will be time zone mechanics in the game, meaning that different contents will operate at different stages in the day night cycle. What isn't concrete yet is how long day and night will last.
Pros of a long cycle: Significant feeling of environmental change. Really requires players to adopt distinct tactics. Rewards players that make customized night fighting load outs. Cons of a long cycle: Discourages players that dislike the current time of day. Makes it difficult or impossible for people to play through a whole dawn to dawn cycle in one sitting A solution to this problem could be to have some continents(maybe in the northern hemisphere) that have a long night. Like 75% night. While others have a balanced 50-50 set up, and some of a day biased 75% - 25%. |
