Why is the medic's rifle better than the HA's lmg?

Is it just me, or does the HA LMG (atleast on the terran side) seem like it's about 75% as effective as the medics rifle.

Not to mention the medics auto heal power seems to out do the HA's shield by alot. Although this may just be due to Medics gun being so much better than the LMG.

I remember hearing MH talk about switching the two weapons between the Medic and the HA. I don't know if that's entirely neccessary.

I'd still like the HA to keep the LMG, but make it useful for...something.
Don't get me wrong, the gun works, but let's be realistic. It lacks in basically every area compared to the Medics rifle.

-Hip accuracy
-Damage per shot
-ADS accuracy

The larger clip just makes it so much aggravating that you spent 70 rounds trying to kill someone.
