Advance apologies for starting another Sniper topic
I was on Indar this evening. There was a large-ish fight going on between the TR, who were occupying Vanu Archives and the NC. I decided to go sniping again. First of all, I was more interested in staying alive and I am so crap at CQ stuff, so I spawned at NS Research Labs. It was clear of enemies, which suited me. I'm for ever getting stabbed from behind LOL. I set up at that ammo supply tower just to the north of the facility and straight away I could see there was a few peeps at the launch pad thing to the south of Vanu Archives, the one that is high up on a rock. I checked the distance with my personal waypoint and it was around 280 metres. I managed to kill a couple of guys before they decided to clear off. A little later I spotted an engineer on the southern most platform to the west of Vanu Archives. He was using an AV turret and so I had plenty of time to take aim. I suppose I should mention I was using my Longshot with a 12x scope. My first two shots were to the body and I was quite surprised that he kept coming back to his turret. Another two shots went high, and he carried on regardless. Then finally, with around two full dots in the scope just above his head, I got the headshot in. The distance, according to my personal waypoint, was just under 440 metres, so lets call it 430 metres, just for the sake of nice round numbers. I doubt if I'll get that chance again, so thanks to the engy for obliging me the chance... As good as being in VR. Is that good? Average? Easy peasy? I'd love to know... Some times I struggle to hit barn door at 150 paces. 300 metres is usually too much of a challenge for me. So to bust 400 metres was a bit of a shock and I grinned for some time after |
